Oboabona who was solid as rock in the Eagles’ defence in all Nigeria’s six matches at the tournament, helped the team to their third African crown.
The governor who rewarded Oboabona at a dinner organised in honour of the player on Thursday at the Government House in Akure said he was grateful to God that Oboabona’s parents are alive to witness the success of their son and advised the player not to allow success get into his head, urging him to embrace humility, fear of God and hard work which, according to him, are the recipe for success.
Mimiko also reiterated the commitment of his administration to invest in sports development and make Sunshine Stars Footbal Club the best in Africa.
The player, in his remarks, commended the state government for the kind gesture and promised to be a good ambassador of the state at all times
