ASUU strike


It is no longer news that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities have been on strike for about four weeks now. There appears to be a uniqueness in the current strike as ASUU is not making new demands but calling for the implementation of the agreements reached four years ago with the Federal Government. It will be recalled that the 2009 Agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU was brokered under the Wale Babalakin led panel. Wale Babalakin is the Chairman of Bi-Courtney Construction Company whose relationship with the Federal Government has undergone strain and stress. Could the Federal Government’s intransigence be interpreted as an attempt to rubbish the Babalakin Report? The Federal Government should treat issues and not personalities
