Danfo' driver gets in hot soup for biting policewomen in Lagos

A policewoman dealing with a danfo driverOluwaya Eshe, a 28-year-old Lagos commercial bus (Danfo) driver, is in very serious trouble after he was arrested and charged to court for allegedly beating and biting two policewomen who tried to stop him while driving against traffic.

The female officers, Omowumi Aliu and Adebisi Bamiu, were said to be on duty around the Isheri Oshun area of the state when they accosted Eshe for going against traffic along the Ikotun-Ijegun road. They apprehended him and attempted to impound his bus and take it to their station.

But the incensed Eshe would not hear of it as he started exchanging words with them, which later escalated to a fisticuff.

The driver allegedly tore the officers' uniforms and bit Bamiu on her hand, injuring her in the process. Other male officers had to rush down to the scene and forcefully restrain him from further assaulting the women.

He was arraigned before Magistrate J. O. E. Adeyemi of the Ejigbo Customary Court on charges bordering on assault, tearing of police uniform and a human bite under the Criminal Code.

He pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Adeyemi granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum
